13. November
After a 7 days firing last week the kiln is now cooling down. We had a nice week for the firing, weather was good, a little cold, wonderful nights with many stars. Today it is snowing a little bit, the first time this year.
I hope the firing will give some good results. The new tea bowls I am really excited to hold in my hands again. After throwing almost 1000 tea bowls this year I could select the very best for the kiln loading. It is interesting for me to see how the pieces change during the years. Sometimes I don't understand why it needs such a long time to get good bowls. Well, you can easily fill your life with making bowls.
2. February
Since 4 weeks I am throwing tea bowls ( Chawans). Day by day the studio gets filled with the bowls. Later I will pick out the best ones for the next firing. Well, it is a very special beginning of this year's working period.

In November we had another firing with one very large piece in the back of the kiln and smaller pieces in the front. It was a wonderfull kiln with beautifull results.

2005
October 14th Since a few weeks I am working with clay again. I am making large handbuilt pieces besides pots on the wheel. Here I am trying to realice fast thrown pieces, which are inspired by my daily feelings. It is very exciting to watch the clay during a process of improvisation on the wheel.

July 20th During the week I cleaned up my studio. I desrtoyed all the unfired pieces and recycled the clay. Now the studio is empty and I can start out working.
Soon I will have my 50th birthday. It was an idea to start out working than in an empty studio.
July 12th

Firing the kiln in June, cleaning all the pots, preparing a show at our house for the 20th studio year- it was a very busy time. The results of the firing have been very good. I will put some pictures into the web soon.

There I was invited for the workshop of woodfired kilns. It was an exciting time together with artists from many different countries. The ceramic culture in Korea with its long tradition is still alife and will be transported into the future.
